Mildred Stankiewicz

Mildred Stankiewicz, 94, of Avoca, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Regional Hospital, Scranton. Born on January 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Loretta Godowski Mazur.

Mildred was a member of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church. She was graduate of Avoca High School, class of 1945. She worked many years in the local garment industry.

Mildred was a lifelong social butterfly that never saw people as strangers, only potential new friends. She had a true gift for storytelling that delighted her family and friends. She was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress who excelled at both. She also had a passion for cooking and was very skilled in the kitchen. She loved her family dearly and would do anything for them.

A lifelong Catholic, she had a deep and abiding faith all her life. She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stankiewicz; brother, Joseph Mazur Jr.; sister, Loretta Capelloni and two grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Melanie Stankiewicz; sons Allen Stankiewicz and wife Paula and Gerald Stankiewicz and his wife Sandra; grandchildren: Eric

Stankiewicz and Allen Stankiewicz, Jr.; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday April 4, 2022, at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 2pm-4pm. Interment will be held at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.
