Carole Rodola Darbenzio, 70, of Dupont, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at her home. She was born in Dupont on November 20, 1948 and was the daughter of the late August and Helen (Sabach) Rodola. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Davis.
Carole was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish Church in Pittston. She was a 1966 graduate of Northeast High School. For many years, she worked for the Dupont Sweater Outlet and retired in 2014 from the Walmart Pharmacy Department in Pittston.
Carole was the epitome of a caretaker and she was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind many beautiful memories that she helped to create. Her favorite activities included an active yoga practice and spending time at the Pittston YMCA. She enjoyed monthly dinners with her “club” and regular events organized by the “Y women”. She spent countless hours chatting with her closest girlfriends and making everyone laugh. Carole visited New York City often to spend time with her daughter, son-in-law and grandson. She loved going to see Broadway shows and taking relaxing walks along the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. She enjoyed regularly babysitting her granddaughter and being able to spend time with her son and daughter-in-law afterwards.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Frank Darbenzio; her children Dr. Nick Darbenzio and his wife Lacey, of Clarks-Summit, and Amanda Hoffman and her husband Jarrett of Brooklyn, NY; and her grandchildren Vienna Darbenzio and Ari Hoffman. Also surviving are her nephew Michael Davis; niece Rebecca Davis and her fiancé Mary Pitek; and her great niece Kelli Davis.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Marello Parish Church, William St., Pittston, with Fr. Joseph Elston officiating and Fr. John Cigan as co-celebrant. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church for services, as there will be no procession from the funeral home.
Friends may call for visitation on Monday evening, January 21, 2019 from 5-8pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
