Jason Rodney Shearer


Jason Rodney Shearer, 39, of Old Forge passed away Tuesday from injuries resulting from a car accident. Born in Avoca, October 5th, 1976, he was the son of Gilbert Shearer and his step-mother, Frankie Ann (Smith) Shearer and his mother Sharon (Bartuska) Shearer.

Jason was a 1994 graduate of Pittston Area High School. He was currently employed at Cinram Corp. Olyphant, PA. Jason was a loving father, son, brother, grandson, and friend and he will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Jordan Rodney, Jason Matthew, Rachel, and Danica; and his siblings, Shaun and his wife Irene, Michael Kelly, and his sister Nichole. He is also survived by his grandparents, Marita and Gilbert Shearer; his uncle David and aunt Caroline Shearer; his nephews Shaun Jr. and Ian; and several aunt’s uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his cousin, David Shearer Jr. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, February 8th at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Queen Of The Apostles Church, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating.

Friends may call on Monday morning at the funeral home from 8:30am until time of service. Interment services will be privately held at the family’s request at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the children of Jason Shearer.
