Joseph “Ike” Francis Regan


Joseph “Ike” Francis Regan, 71, of Avoca, passed away Thursday, February 18th at VA Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Avoca, January 11th, 1945 and was the son of the late Francis and Sophie (Gregory) Regan.

Joe was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish (St. Mary’s Church), Avoca. He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School, Avoca and was a 1962 graduate of Duryea High School. For many years, Joe worked for the Craft Oil Co., Avoca and he retired from Air Brake & Equipment Co, Moosic. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Joe was a very active member with the Avoca Lions Club and a member of the VFW Post 8335, Avoca and served on its Board of Directors. He was a very loving and kind man and he will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Regan, and his sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Regan.

Joe is survived by his son, Joseph Regan Jr. of Missouri and his brothers, Francis “Butch” and his wife Donna of Avoca and Patrick and his wife Ann of Plains. He is also survived by his niece, Colleen Regan Velehoski, sister-in-law, Paula Regan; and his companion Rose Chrobak.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 10:00am at Queen of the Apostles Church, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Saturday morning, February 27th from 9:00am until time of mass. AMVETS Honor Guard will provide Military Honors. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca.
