Geraldine (Kolojeski) Zurek, 82, of Suscon, passed away Saturday, May 7th at her home. She was born in the Greenwood section of Moosic on July 8th, 1934 and was the daughter of the late James and Anna (Thomas) Kolojeski.
Geraldine was a former member of St. Mary’s Of Czestochowa Church, Greenwood. She was a graduate of Moosic High School. For many years, she worked for her son at the Borderline Tavern, Avoca. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, John R. Zurek, who died August 3rd, 2009; her sister Betty Healey and brother James Kolojeski.
She is survived by her children; Stephen Healey and his wife Brenda of Deleware, Gary Healey of Suscon, Joseph Healey and his wife Allison of Avoca, Donna (Healey) Melvin and her husband Terry of Scranton; her step-son Stanley Zurek and his wife Lisa of Suscon and step-daughter Maryann and her husband Joseph Ascani of FL.; as well as her sister Ruth Janeski, of Arizona, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A blessing service will be held on Wednesday, May 11th at 10:30am at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. Richard McIntyre of The Baptist Tabernacle, Wilkes-Barre officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday evening May 10th from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s of Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic.
