Charles Joseph Dominick, 83, of Duryea, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Golden Living Center, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Duryea, November 12th, 1932 and was the son of the late Andrew and Eva (Klink) Dominick.
Charles was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, (Holy Rosary Church), Duryea. He was a 1950 graduate of Duryea High School. After high school, he enrolled in the Wilkes University music program and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music. Charlie joined the US Army and served during the Korean War, he was a member of the US Army Band and traveled extensively throughout the world. He was honorably discharged from the Army and became a professional musician, employed by Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts, and he entertained at the resorts throughout the United States. Charles was also employed in the Hagerstown, Maryland Area School District as a music teacher. Charles retired from the Yurish Music Store in Kingston, PA and continued to play music with the Starfires and entertain locally.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Dominick and sisters, Josephine Klimek and Helen Litwak.
He is survived by his sister, Joan Scripkunas of Duryea; his nephew, Joseph Scripkunas; and niece, Mary Ann Santey.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14th at 11:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 12:00pm at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, Stephenson St., Duryea with Fr. John V. Polednak officiating. Friends may call on Saturday morning, May 14th from 10:00am until time of service. Interment will be held at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea. The AMVETS honor guard will provide military services.
