Janet (Lyons) Renna, 70, of Exeter, passed away Saturday, June 4th at the Acute Care Center, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre following a long illness. Born January 9th, 1946 she was the daughter of the late Willard and Elaine (Fredrickson) Lyons.
Janet was a graduate of Lake Lehman High School. She was a member of the West Pittston United Methodist Church, Class18, and the Pink Flamingos Book Club.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her siblings, Audrey Pantano and Willard Lyons.
Surviving are her children, Richard Schooley of TX, Clinton Renna of MO, Patrick Schooley of ME, Glenn Renna of TN, Regina Hamilton of PA, Tracy MacDonald of FL; and sisters, Diane Stover, Kathleen Goskoski, and Rose Brostoski.
Janet is also survived by her Pink Flamingo sisters, Marion Carver, Kristyn Tokash, Nancy Musso, Jolene Salvo, Grace Kleinfelder, Beverly Owen, Lynn Dente, and Phyllis Bell. A special thank you to Joan Mueller for watching over Janet like an angel.
Janet had many friends and she was a best friend to many. She was a hopeless romantic, loved to read, traveled to many parts of the world, was a great scrabble player, and was the hub of our family. She was “brilliant, heroic, lovely, giving, solemn, knowledgeable, gentle, and trustworthy”.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday evening, June 7th at 7:30pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. David Walker of the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 5:00pm until time of service. Interment will be held on Friday, June 10th at 12:00pm at the Mt. View Cemetery, Rt. 92, Harding.
