Thomas Goul, 66, of Avoca, passed away on Tuesday, July 26th at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Twp. Born in Avoca on September 5th, 1949, he was the son of the late Walter “Ike” Goul and Helen (Brezak) Goul.
Thomas was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish (Holy Rosary Church), Duryea. He was a 1967 graduate of Pittston Area High School and a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Business College. Tommy worked for the Pittston Area School District until the time of his retirement. He was a very active member in the Borough of Avoca. Thomas served on the Avoca Borough Council for 23 years, was a past-president of the Avoca Lions Club, and also served as a board member for the Lower Lackawanna Valley Sewer Authority. He was a social member of the Avoca VFW, the West Side Social Club, and the Browns Club of Avoca. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Edward Goul.
Thomas is survived by his wife the former Caroline (Soy) Goul and his daughters, Christine Goul of Naples, Florida and Melissa Goerner of Avoca. Also surviving are his brother, Francis Goul and his wife, Cheryl of Duryea, his granddaughter, Seryna Cleveland, and many nieces and nephews.
A blessing service will be held on Monday evening, August 1st at 7:30pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Fr. John V. Polednak of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea officiating. Friends may call on Monday, August 1st from 5pm until time of service.
