John R. Blanchard, 47, formerly of Duryea, passed away on Monday, September 5th at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Phoenix, AZ. He was born in Duryea, January 27th, 1969 and was the son of Mary McGlynn Blanchard and the late John “Doc” Blanchard, who died on April 27th, 2009.
John was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea. He was a 1987 graduate of Pittston Area High School. While in Arizona, he worked in the construction of golf resorts which included Shalimar Golf Club and the Raven Golf Club. John was a member of the Polish Falcons of America.
In addition to his dad, he is preceded in death by his grandparents and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his mother, Mary Blanchard, John is survived by his sister, Janine Rizzo and husband Joseph; niece Shannon; nephews, Kyle and Zak all of Willow Grove; his uncle John McGlynn; aunts Anna Rita McGlynn and Patricia McGlynn, all of Duryea; as well as many cousins and friends.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 21st at 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea with Fr. John V. Polednak officiating. Friends may call for visitation at the church from 9:00am until time of mass. Interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Duryea.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Care and Concern Clinic, 37 William St., Pittston, PA 18640 or Nativity of Our Lord Parish Building Project, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea, PA 18642 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
