Mary Drouse Krakowski


Mary Drouse Krakowski, 90, of Avoca, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Born in Avoca, October 17th 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Julia Drouse.

Mary was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish (SS Peter and Paul), Avoca. She attended Avoca Schools and retired from the Consolidated Cigar Factory.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Frank “Tootsie” Krakowski, who died in 1984; her granddaughter, Carrie Ann Krakowski; her sisters, Stella Bryk, Helen Poplawski, Nellie Surdy, Lottie Chickey, and Sophie Kaltynski; and brothers, Joseph, John, Edward, Stanley, Ted and Charles.

She is survived by her children, Ann Marie Rogers of Scranton, Frank Krakowski and his wife, Paula of Glendale, and Jean and her husband, Robert Collins of Avoca. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Lisa Rogers, Brandon and Lauren Collins, and Ashley Krakowski; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Kayleigh Collins, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. James Sheerer and staff and the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Mary.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 10th at 10:00am at Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip J. Sladicka officiating.

Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
