Thomas Fritz, 54, of Avoca passed away on Sunday, October 9th at the Hospital of the University Of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He was born in Avoca, July 22nd, 1962 and was the son of the late Edwin and Mary Ann (Goul) Fritz.
Thomas was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont, and a 1980 graduate of Pittston Area High School. Thomas worked for the Tamblyn Corp., FedEx, and he retired from MacTac, Moosic.
Thomas loved his town of Avoca. He served on Avoca Borough Council for over 16 years and he was very active with the Avoca Little League and the Avoca Youth Basketball Program. Thomas was a very kind and generous man that was always there to lend a helping hand. He loved being with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Theresa, Patricia Ann, and Steven.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 22 years, the former Diane Mattei Fritz; his daughter, Jordan Fritz; and son, Eric Fritz. Also surviving are his siblings, Joseph of Avoca, his sister Marie Fritz of Washington D.C., and David, of Hanover Twp.; father-in-law Sandy Mattei and his wife, Delphine; brother-in-law, Dennis Mattei and wife, Janet; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13th at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Friends are asked to go directly to the church for services; there will be no procession from the funeral home. Friends may call on Wednesday evening, October 12th, from 5-8pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Interment will be held at the Old Forge Cemetery, Old Forge.
