Edward White, 78, of Old Forge, passed away on Sunday January 15th at the Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Taylor. He was born in Pittston Twp. April 25th, 1938 and was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Budzak) White.
Eddie was a member of Sacred Heart Of Jesus Church, Dupont where he was employed after his retirement as head of maintenance. He was a graduate of Hughestown, High School and Kings College, Wilkes-Barre. After graduating from Kings College he joined the US Navy and served during the Korean War. Edward worked many years for Mercy Hospital, Scranton and retired from Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton as a Orthopedic Tech.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his nephew Pat Gaffney.
Edward is survived by his caretaker and companion of over 28 years Mark Bartosch, his siblings Eleanor Gaffney and her husband William, of Pittston, Ruth Kristoff and her husband Edward, of Taylor and Bruce White and his wife Mary Jo, of Hughestown. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 19th at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc. 255 McAlpine St. Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Of Jesus Church, Lackawanna Ave. Dupont. Friends may call on Wedensday evening January 18th from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at the Pittston Cemetery. The AMVETS honor guard will provide military honors.
