Joan Pisack


Joan Pisack, 81, of Duryea, passed away on Monday, January 16th at her daughter’s home. She was born in Duryea, May 29, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Thompson) Nossavage.

Joan was a member of Nativity of our Lord Parish, Duryea. She was a graduate of Duryea High School. Joan worked for many years at the Consolidated Cigar Factory, West Pittston and she retired from Preferred Meal Systems, Inc., Moosic. Joan’s life was her family and friends. She enjoyed being involved with her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities and traveling with her family to many places in the United States and abroad. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Janice Timek and her husband, Jerry, with whom she resided; her son, Carl Pisack and his wife, Denise of Pittston; grandchildren, Jerry Timek, Jr. and his wife, Chrissy of Duryea and CJ and Eric Pisack of Pittston. Also surviving is her sister, Marguerite Evans of Plains and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20th at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Nativity of our Lord Parish, Stephenson St., Duryea with Fr. John Polednak officiating. Friends may call on Thursday evening, January 19th from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Duryea.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Celtic Hospice and Home Health Care Center, 601 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, PA 18704.
