Michael Fedyk


Michael Fedyk, 88, of Avoca passed away on Wednesday, January 18th at his home. Born in Binghamton NY, April 4th, 1928, he was the son of the late Michael and Katheryn (Harlik) Fedyk.

Michael attended Binghamton High School. After high school, he joined the US Army and served during WWII. Michael worked in the home construction trade for many years. He retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot, Tobyhanna and after retirement he was employed by MetLife in the security department for 17 years. Michael enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending his time with his loving family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, the former Martha (Moore) Fedyk, who passed away on November 10th, 2006; his daughters, Donna Baldwin and Michele Viavada; and sisters, Mary Howe, Julia Schebin, and Ann Szymanski.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Michaleen Harned, with whom he resided, eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 24th at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca with Fr. Phillip J. Sladicka of Queen of the Apostles Parish, Avoca officiating. AMVETS Honor Guard will provide military honors.
