Thomas McAndrew, 67, of Duryea, passed away on Friday January 20th at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Duryea, March 1st, 1949 he was the son of the late James and Matilda (Glodzik) McAndrew.
Thomas was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Parish, Duryea. He was a 1967 graduate of Pittston Area High School. After high school he worked for his father in the family business McAndrew’s Garage and Gas Station, Duryea. Thomas retired from Cascade Tissue Group with over 35 years of employment. Tom was a member and past president of the Polish Falcon’s social club, Duryea. He was a classic car enthusiast and would attend and show his car at many car show events, both locally and regionally, most notably he and his wife Mary would attend the Lead East Car Show, in Parsippany NJ for the last 25 years. Thomas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tom is survived by his wife of 49 years the former Mary (Lukus) McAndrew. His brother James and his wife Janis McAndrew, of Duryea. His niece Kristy Simonitis, nephew James McAndrew Jr. Also surviving are sister-in-law Cathy and her husband David Paczkowski, of Duryea and brother-in-law John Lukus, of Duryea.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 24th at 9:00am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc. 255 McAlpine St. Duryea with a mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am at Nativity Of Our Lord Parish, Stephenson St. Duryea with Fr. John V. Polednak officiating. Friends may call on Monday evening January 23rd from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at a later date.
