Phoebe McCracken, 76, of formerly of Avoca, passed away on February 18th at her home in Oak Harbor, WA. She was born in Avoca, November 14th, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith (Luvender) McCracken.
Phoebe was a graduate of Avoca High School. After graduating, she relocated to New Jersey for employment and met her husband, Mac McCracken, who was enlisted in the US Navy. Phoebe and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad up until the time of her retirement and her husband’s retirement from the Navy, then located to Oak Harbor, WA, where they resided for many years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Joseph and Gary; and her sister, Laura.
She is survived by her children, Troy, Sharon, and Linda all of Washington State; her brother, George and his wife, Mary McCracken of Duryea; sisters, Dora Haines of NJ, Betty Decker Lewis of Avoca, and Emma Fahey of Pittston; as well as several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 6:30pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. Sharon Dietz of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Avoca officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Saturday, March 4th from 5pm until time of service.
