Peter Chisdock III

Peter Chisdock III, of the Greenwood section of Moosic, passed away on Monday, March 6th at Geisinger CMC Hospital, Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra Sklanka Chisdock, the love of his life and his best friend.

Born in the Starks section of Moosic on November 4th, 1931, son of the late Peter Sr. and Mary Nashelnick Chisdock, he was a graduate of Moosic High School, Class of 1949. He completed a DeVry Technical Institute Correspondence course in radio and television repair.

Peter was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Church of Old Forge before changing parishes, first to St. Mary Czestochowa Church of Moosic until its closing, and presently belonging to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont, PA.

Pete was a jack of all trades, there was nothing he couldn’t fix. He once said he could fix everything but a broken heart. He drew blueprints of his home and his brother-in-law John Miller, a building contractor, built the house Pete designed. All the finishing touches from electric, plumbing, tiling, flooring, and landscaping were done by Pete. A brick wall in the recreation room was built with bricks from a torn down building in Scranton. Although not a brick mason he built the beautiful wall. The bricks collected were worn and old and he was helped by his brother-in-law Dominic.

Peter was employed by the Scranton Hobby Center, Auto World, and the United States Post Office of Scranton. He enjoyed repairing television and radio sets and worked part time for Jack Gilroy.

He enjoyed fishing, reading novels, vacations with his family, and spending quality time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Sandra, he is survived by his sons, Thomas Peter Chisdock and wife, Beverly of Avoca, PA., David Peter Chisdock of Moosic and Mark Peter Chisdock and his wife, Melissa of Harding; and the loves of his life, his two grandchildren, Cecelia Anne and Zebulon Mark Chisdock, children of Mark and Melissa; and his sister, Helen Chisdock Miller, Moosic, whom he loved dearly; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Peter Jr., age 14, born in 1916 and passed in early 1931, shortly before Peter III was born, Charles, Michael, John Chisdock, and a sister, Ann Chisdock Koveleski.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 13th at 10:15am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:30am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont, with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Friends may call on Monday morning, March 13th from 8:30am until time of service. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Peters name to the organizations he supported his entire life, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105.
