Alicia Rutkoski, 75, of Duryea passed away on April 13th at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in the Soviet Union, October 3rd, 1941 and was the daughter of Alexander and Ethel (Babin) Balashova.
Alicia attended elementary school in the Soviet Union. Alicia and her family came to the United States in 1953 and she graduated high school in Laredo, Texas. After high school, her family relocated to California, where she attended college at San Francisco University. She also attended university in New Zealand. Alicia lived in Islamabad, Pakistan with her mother for 1½ years and it is where she met her husband, Jesse Rutkoski. They then married and have been together for 44 years.
Alicia and Jesse have traveled extensively all over the world while working for the United States government. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband, Jesse, she is survived by her daughters; Christina Rhodes of Long Island, Adriana Chenault and her husband, Christopher of Walnut Creek, CA, and Alissa Cannon and her husband, Bernard of Westchester, PA. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Logan Rhodes, Aidan Chenault, Dylan Rhodes, Samuel Chenault, Cole Chenault, and Jesse Cannon; her sister, Elena Balashova of Berkley, CA; her brother-in-law, Jerome Rutkoski and sister-in-law, Diane Plisga; her niece, Vanessa Osticco; and nephew, Sasha Rossman.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
