Walter Szewczyk, 63, formerly of Duryea, died on Wednesday April 26th at his home. He was born in Duryea March 6th, 1953 and is the son of Louise Szewczyk and the late Magistrate Walter Szewczyk.
Walter attended Pittston Area High School and was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp. Walter was previously employed at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport and Duryea Boro. Walter enjoyed hunting and fishing and in earlier years would spend his entire summer fishing the river in Wyalusing. Walter will be missed for his sense of humor and one liner answers. “May you rest in Peace Walter”.
In addition to his mother Louise, he is survived by his brother, Paul of Old Forge; sister, Mary Ann Dunn and her husband, Phil of Duryea; brother, Robert of Trucksville; nephew, Philip Dunn and his wife, Lindsay of Duryea; niece, Mariah Dunn and fiancé, Ryan Fletcher of Duryea; nieces, Crystal, Morgan, and Cassidy Szewczyk of Pittston; nephew Adam Szewczyk of Peckville; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
A blessing service will be held on Saturday, May 6th at 11:30am at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Deacon Andre Kabacinski of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 10:30am until time of service. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea.
