Joan (Potorski) Usckavizy Wallace, 78, of Avoca, passed away on Monday, May 1st at the Riverside Rehab and Nursing Center, Taylor. She was born in Avoca, November 24th, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Mazur Potorski.
Joan was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish, Avoca (SS Peter and Paul Church). She attended Avoca High School. Joan worked in the local garment industry as a machine operator and retired from Gold Star Fabrics, Scranton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Usckavitz, and brothers, Theodore and John Potorski.
She is survived by brothers and sisters; Julia Sassi of Laflin, Joseph Potorski of Avoca, Mary Ann Reggie of Old Forge, Frank and his wife, Judy Potorski of Taylor, Rose Ann Stella and her husband, Pacifico of Pittston Twp., Jean Marie Zingaretti of Bonneauville, PA, and Dr. Robert Potorski and his wife, Bridget of Bradenton, FL. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 8th at 10:30am at Queen of the Apostles Church, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Monday, May 8th from 9:30am until time of mass. Interment will be held at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.
