Robert J. Cappelloni, Sr.


Robert J. Cappelloni, Sr., 73, of Avoca, passed away on Friday, May 26th at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Scranton, February 24th, 1944 and was the son of the late Marshall and Mary McLaughlin Cappelloni.

Robert retired as a member of Ironworkers Local 489 from McGregor Architectural Iron, Dunmore. Bob was dedicated to his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He was hard working and could build or fix just about anything. He enjoyed hunting and going to the cabin with his best friend Mike, his grandchildren, and his other hunting buddies. Bob will always be remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan Cappelloni; his children, Robert Jr. and his wife Mary Ann, Duryea, Teresa Bartko and her husband John of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and Karen Brombacher and her husband JB of Avoca; and his four grandchildren, Rob and Liz Cappelloni and Bria and Jaden Brombacher. Also surviving are his brothers, Marshall “Butch” Cappelloni and his wife Eileen of Florida and John Cappelloni and his wife Linda of Scranton; sisters, Mary A. “Mimi” Jones and her husband Lance of Plains, Ann Barrett and her husband Joseph of Scranton, and Barbara and her husband Tom Lynch of Moscow; his sister-in-law Bernadine Evans of Forty Fort and many nieces and nephews.

Robert’s family would like to thank the Avoca Ambulance and Pittston Paramedics, Dr. Martin Moran and his staff, the doctors, nurses, and staff of Regional Hospital, Scranton, and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, and the nurses from Superior Health Services.

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, PA.
