Robert T. Brody, 69, of Duryea, passed away on Wednesday, June 7th at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was born in Avoca, December 30th, 1947 and was the son of the late Theodore “Skeets” Brody and Jennie A. (Romanowski) Brody.
Robert was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, (SS Peter and Paul) Avoca. He was a 1965 graduate of St. John’s High School. Upon graduating high school, he joined the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. Robert was employed by Schott Optical, Duryea and retired after 38 years of employment.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his family. He and his family loved the outdoors, they enjoyed spending time in Mexico, NY at their campsite. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Rita (Bates) Brody; his children, Robert P. Brody and his companion, Jenn Dains, of Tunkhannock, John R. Brody and his companion, Alice of Duryea, James M. Brody and his wife, Amy of Duryea and daughter Kathryn A. Webb and her husband Randy of Dupont. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Emily Laura Brody, Tommy Brody, Riley Brody, Tyler Brody, Alexandria Brody, Aidan Brody, and Bella Marie Brody; his sister-in-law, Joyce Ross and her husband, Keith; and many nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 12th at Queen of the Apostles Parish, Hawthorne St., Avoca at 10:00am with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Monday morning, June 12th from 8:30am until time of service.
