Frank “Fritz” Kremitske


Frank “Fritz” Kremitske, 83, of Pittston Twp. passed away Tuesday, September 12th at his home after a one year courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Duryea July 14th 1934 and was the son of the late Frank A. and Theresa (Yescavage) Kremitske.

Fritz was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea. Frank worked for Sears for 35 years as a service technician and was self-employed in the heating, air condition and refrigeration trade.

Frank lettered in football, baseball, and basketball for Duryea High School before graduating in 1952. He played fast pitch softball at Schautz Stadium in Scranton for many years and also played in the Eastern Seaboard League. Frank assisted coaching for his grandson’s Little League team and his granddaughter’s softball teams. He was also one of the originators of the Suscon softball teams.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially liked his annual hunting trip to the Adirondack Mountains with his sons and friends which he did for many years. Frank was a member of “The Koon Gang”, “Bear Hunting Gang”, and The Red Bear Hunting Club, in Bear Creek He was a proud father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Doris M (Hatmaker) Kremitske, who died on March 25, 2013 and his brother, Steve and his grandson, David Slezak, Jr.

Frank is survived by his children, Frank Kremitske Jr., Mark and wife, Diana Kremitske; daughters, Laurie and husband, Bob Kelly, Mary and husband, David Slezak, Donna and husband, Jerry Kipp, and Renee Miller all of Pittston Twp.; grandchildren, Ashley Ferretti , Samantha, Bobby and Dylan Kelly, Devon Slezak, Callie and Allison Kipp, Kasey Barbey , and Taylor and Marina Miller. Also surviving is his sister, Lorraine Capitano of Duryea; his special friend, Mary Barlow; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18th at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, Stephenson St., Duryea with Fr. John V. Polednak officiating. Friends may call on Sunday evening, September 17th from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Duryea.
