Julia Satkowski, 86, of Avoca, passed away on Thursday, November 9th at Allied Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton. She was born in Dupont, November 14th, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Nesgoda) Gacek.
Julia was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont. She was a graduate of Dupont High School. She retired from the local garment industry. Julia was a member of the Avoca VFW Post 4909 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of SS Peter and Paul Church, Avoca Alter and Rosary Society.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Satkowski, who passed away October 21, 1980; her son, Edward Jr.; granddaughters, Laura Jean Satkowski and Erica Stotler; her son-in law, John Kolosinsky Jr.; her brothers, George and Joseph Gacek; and sisters, Mary Sowa, Anna Stachorowski, Theresa Shemanski and Dorothy Sullivan.
Julia is survived by her son, David of Avoca, Ruth Kleinhans and her husband, Anthony of Virginia, Karen Kolosinsky and her companion, Paul Taramelli of Florida; grandchildren, Jessica Randolph and her husband, Delvin and Edward (EJ) Satkowski; and great-granddaughter, Lotus Stotler. Also surviving are her sisters Irene Opello, of West Pittston and Caroline Cantelmo of TN and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 13, at 9:00am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St. with a mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Lackawanna Ave., Dupont with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Friends may call of Sunday evening, November 12th from 6pm-8pm. Interment will be held at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.
