Frances Hrab


Frances Hrab, 94, formerly of Port Blanchard passed away peacefully on Sunday morning November 19th at The Gardens At East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre, where she had been a guest for the past 7 years. Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Fannie Hawley.

Fran was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston. Fran worked in the garment industry all her life before retirement, after retiring she enjoyed spending time with her family especially cooking Sunday dinner for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed going to lunch and shopping with her daughters. After her great-grandchildren were born she loved their visits, watching them play and hearing about all their activities. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband George “Kelly” Hrab in 1981, grandson Brian Wood and infant granddaughter Leah Krincek. Surviving is her daughters Carol Wood and husband George, Avoca; Nancy Hrab, of Hudson, granddaughter Nancy and great-grandchildren Geno, Ryann, and Brian. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the entire staff of the Gardens who were Fran’s second family for their loving care. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 25th at 10:30 am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Main St., Pittston with Fr. Gary Messinger officiating. Friends may call on Saturday morning, November 25th from 9:30 am until time of service. Interment will take place at the Parish Cemetery.
