Anna (Wasik) Swanek, 90, of Dupont, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at her home. She was born in Avoca, September 14, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Shemanski) Wasik.
Anna was a former member from SS Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. She was a graduate of Avoca High School. For many years, she worked in the local garment industry and retired from Brooks Manufacturing.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Swanek, who passed away in 1983; her sister, Betty Jane VanLuvender; and her daughter, Mary Rose D’Amico.
Anna is survived by her sister, Rose Mraz of Olyphant and many nieces and nephews.
Auntie Annie was a special person who loved her husband, Danny and cherished her beloved daughter, Mary Rose. She enjoyed the simple things in life. She was an avid Penn State fan and also loved just being in her home of 64 years, tending to her roses and looked forward to her daily conversations with her sister, Rose. Auntie Annie lived a life of kindness to others and touched the lives of all the people she met. She will be truly missed by her family, friends and all who were fortunate to have known this wonderful person.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Martin Moran and the Allied
Nurses, especially Barb, for the wonderful way they took care of Anna.
A memorial service will be held on Monday morning, December 11th at 10am at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Father Phillip Sladicka, of Queen of the Apostles Parish officiating. Friends may call on Monday morning, December 11th from 9 am until time of service. Interment will take place immediately following the service at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.
