Joseph Kozak, Jr., 72, of Avoca, died on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was born in Avoca, May 23, 1945 and was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Krystiniak) Kozak.

Joseph was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. He attended Avoca High School and was a graduate of Northeast High School. He worked many years for AJ Chevrolet and was the owner of Kozak Auto Service, Avoca. He also worked as a dedicated newspaper carrier for over 30 years for the Times Leader and Citizens Voice. He was a member of the Duryea Polish Falcons. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Marie Kozak, who died in 2012.
Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Ellen Willard Kozak, his sons; Edward and his wife Diana of Exeter and Stephen and his fiancée Justine Hoffman of Duryea; grandchildren, Stephen Kozak Jr., Branden Kozak, and Carrie Anne Kozak; his brother Daniel and his wife Maggie of Wapwallopen, PA; sisters Mary Ann Ranieli of Pittston, Sandy Smith and her husband Jamey of FL; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 19th at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Queen of the Apostles Church, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Sunday evening, February 18th from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge.
