Ceil Exter, 86, of Moosic, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was born in Moosic, July 30, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Allen Exeter.
She was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston and a graduate of Temple University with a degree in pharmacy. Ceil worked as a pharmacist for over 60 years. She was the owner and operator of Warnek’s Pharmacy in Forty Fort and later worked for the Amalgamated Union as an in-house pharmacist for 30 years and retired from Llewellyn’s Pharmacy, Avoca after 20 years of employment. Ceil was a member of the Avoca VFW Ladies Auxiliary, past president of St. Mary’s Church, Avoca Alter and Rosary Society, a member of St. Mary’s Choir, and a member of the Christian Mothers of St. Mary’s. She was also a member of the Polish Union and the After 50 club.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Celestine Popple and brothers, Allen “Echer” Exeter and Stanley Exeter.
She is survived by her son John Warnek and his wife Mary Ann of Old Forge; her grandchildren, John and his wife Nicole Warnek, and Nikki Warnek; and great-grandchildren, Brady and Cooper Warnek. Also surviving are her sisters, Joy Markowski of Moosic and Theresa Janes of Taylor; her extended family members, John T.“Chick” Boone, Mary George, and Gloria Kostiak; and many nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, February 20th at 12:00pm at Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Monday evening, February 19th from 5-8pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church on Tuesday morning for mass. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s of Czestochowa Cemetery, Greenwood.
