Andrew “Sonny” Beseda


Andrew “Sonny” Beseda, 74, of Avoca passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at home.

He was born in the Minooka section of Moosic on May 17, 1943 and was the son of the late Andrew and Josephine (Mikiewicz) Beseda. He attended local Catholic schools and was a graduate of St. Ann’s High School, Scranton in 1960. After high school, he served in the Army Reserves. Later, he worked for many years at the Polaron Company, Moosic and retired from Cascade Tissue Group after 38 years of employment.

Andrew was an avid classic car enthusiast and enjoyed restoring them in his garage at home, especially his ’53 Ford. He enjoyed attending local and regional car shows with his family and friends, leading to many lifelong friendships.

He was also a member of the Polish Falcons Social Club, Duryea. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his beloved cats.

In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher, a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Terry McDermott Beseda, his son Andrew and his wife Rosemary of Dupont and his daughter Amber, and her fiancé Ronnie Villano of Swoyersville, four grandchildren, his brother Vincent of Scranton, sister Maryann Brigido of Old Forge, brothers and sister-in-law, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 26th at 11:00am at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Chaplain David O’Brien officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, February 25th from 5-8pm.
