Jean Chacko


Jean Chacko, 81, of Avoca, passed away on Sunday, March 18th at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was born September 30, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Sledgeski) Satkowski.

Jean was a member of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church, Duryea. She was a 1954 graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston. Jean worked in the local garment industry and then decided to enroll into a nursing program at the Wilkes-Barre Vocational School. She worked for many years as a nurse for the Wilkes-Barre Child Development Council and retired as a private duty nurse. Jean was a member of the Polka Lites, the Big Band Society, and the Red Hat Society. She was involved in the local area Lions Club, the Lithuanian Club, the Pittston Senior Center and served on its council and she enjoyed her membership at the Pittston YMCA.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Breymeier and her second husband, Patrick Cerullo as well as her sister, Clara Tedesco and brother, Joseph Satkowski.

Jean is survived by her children, Thomas Breymeier and his wife Teresa, Joseph Breymeier and his wife Lenette, and her daughter Diana Butera and her husband Joseph; grandchildren, Kristen Breymeier, Shannon Soine, Thomas Breymeier, Kelly Barnes, Jill Gower, Joseph Breymeier and Kerry Breymeier; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Payton Meckes and Mead Barnes. Also surviving is her companion, Frank Bohenek and many nieces and nephews.

Jean’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Sinclair’s Home Health Care for their kindness, support, and excellent care that was shown to Jean.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 22 at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church, Stephenson St., Duryea with Fr. Carmen Bolock officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday evening, March 21st from 4:30pm-7:30pm. Interment will be held at Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Shavertown.
