Helen Drouse, 98, of Avoca, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Wesley Village Nursing and Rehab Center, Pittston. She was born in Avoca, June 30, 1919 and was the daughter of the late John and Agatha Wolch.
Helen was a member of SS Peter and Paul Church, Avoca until its closing and was currently a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont. She attended Avoca Schools and worked in the local garment industry. She retired from Laura Fashions, Avoca. Helen was a former member of the Avoca Senior Citizens Club.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Drouse, who died in 1978; her brothers, Joseph and Edward Wolch and Michael and Frank Vols; and her sisters, Stella Kobylus, Mary Matechak, and Catherine Kolander.
Helen is survived by her children, Deborah and her husband Joseph Ferack of Avoca, Robert Drouse and his wife Donna of Tarpon Springs, FL., and John Drouse and his wife Margie of Summerfield, FL. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Helen’s family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Wesley Village Personal Care and Skilled Nursing and also to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kindness, compassion, and support shown to Helen and her family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 27th at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Lackawanna Ave., Dupont PA with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Friends may call on Monday, March 26th from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at SS and Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.
