James “Dyce” Allardyce


James “Dyce” Allardyce, 73, of Avoca passed away on Monday, May 7th at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. He was born in Avoca, July 11, 1944 and was the son of the late James and Margaret “Peg” (Clifford) Allardyce.

James was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. He was a 1962 graduate of Avoca High School and attended Kings College. James retired from Mac-Tac (Fitchburg Coated Products), Moosic after 39 years of employment.

Dyce was a member of the Avoca Jolly Boys, the West Side Social Club, the Avoca American Legion and the Avoca Breakfast Club. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed many trips to Lambeau Field. He was also a fan of Penn State Football and the NY Yankees.

Beyond his family, the larger community will grieve the loss of Dyce. He was well respected and long admired as a loving husband, caring father, faithful friend, and a great man in his community. The outpouring of condolences received by his family are testament to a life well lived by a kind, loving, and generous man.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ann Baclasky.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Nancy Jake Allardyce; his sons, James and his wife Tina of West Wyoming, Matthew and his wife Renee of Duryea; and four grandchildren, Aiden, Eleanor, Matthew, and Ashley. Also surviving are his brother, Gerald and his wife Helen “Nellie” Allardyce of Avoca and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11th at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Thursday evening, May 10th from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca.
