Lowell Stoss, 70, of Avoca passed away on Thursday, May 17th at his home. He was born in Bloomsburg, PA, September 12th, 1947 and was the son of the late Frank and Genevieve (Yale) Stoss.
Lowell attended Tunkhannock High School. He joined the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. Lowell worked for many years as a truck driver and traveled extensively throughout the USA. He retired from the Luzerne County Housing Authority after 40 years of employment.
Lowell loved to be with his family. He enjoyed family camping trips and his yearly trips to Ocean City, Maryland. He was an avid fan of Penn State Football and the NY Yankees and enjoyed traveling with his family to see both teams play. Lowell was a loving husband, father, Pop, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Sharon Welter Stoss; his son, Lowell and his fiancée, Jodi Lukowich of Duryea; daughters, Tammy and her fiancée, Richard Winburn of Duryea, and Lisa Davies of Plymouth; his grandchildren, Autumn Stoss, Sara Lukowich, Francis George, Amanda Davies, and Matthew Reilley; two great-grandchildren; his beloved cat, Lacie; several brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 20th at 5pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. Sharon Dietz of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Avoca officiating. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 2pm until time of service.
