Sally Grant


Sally Grant, 92, of Moosic, passed away on May 18th at the Scranton Health Care Center, Scranton. She was born In Pittston on May 30th, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Carmello and Rose (Cimeno) Rizzo.

Sally was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Scranton. She was a graduate of Pittston High School and worked for her father’s grocery store. While working at the store she became interested in fashion and started making dresses for her family. Her father noticed her talent and helped her to open her own dress factory. She had a natural born talent for design and became a designer for the Leslie Fay Corp and also for many New York City fashion designers. Sally was the owner and operator for Sally’s Fashions, Pittston, Country Made, Plains, Nicky’s Styles, Scranton, and Michelangelo, Scranton. Sally was a member of the Red Hats. She was a loving wife, aunt, sister, and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Grant, who died in June of 1990 and her siblings, Tony Rizzo, Grace Rizzo, Milly Haas, Genevieve Rizzo, Josephine Gubitosie, Mary Mastruzzo, Palma Rizzo, Nick Rizzo, and David Rizzo.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at the Divine Mercy Parish Church, 312 Davis St., Scranton with Fr. Francis Pauselli officiating. Friends may call on Monday evening, May 21st from 5pm-8pm. Interment will be held at the Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
