Thomas W. Hahn


Thomas W. Hahn, 82, of Moosic, passed away on Wednesday, July 18th at Mountain View Nursing Center, Scranton. Thomas was born in Moosic on September 1, 1935, a son of the late Cleeta (Schenck) and Thomas Hahn.

He attended Moosic High School, and joined the US Air Force, serving during the Korean War. Tom worked as a machine tech for the local garment industry, working many years for the Sauquoit Silk Mill and the American Silk Mill. He was very active with the Moosic Little League and served as a coach for over 25 years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing sports. He also enjoyed playing the game of Pitch and attending Flea Markets. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Alvin, Harold, David, and Wesley Hahn and Lula Gene Martin and Naomi Crawn.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Helen Joyce (Iyoob), his children; Sharon Brodt, of Pittston, Thomas Hahn Jr. and his wife Joyce, of Avoca, Timothy Hahn and his wife Lori, of Pittston, Susan “Susie” and her husband Michael Kunda, of Camp Hill. Also surviving are his brother Richard Hahn and his wife Lynn, of Moscow, sisters Ester Thiel, of Moosic, Margaret Bulford, of Old Forge, Audrey and her husband Don McCawley, of Pittston, and Eleanor Homeschek, of Scranton, his grandchildren Tiffany, Courtney, Lauren and husband Josh Cambell, Timothy Jr., Evan and his fiancé Taylor Miller, his great grandson Julian Cambell and Tom’s Dog, Tootsie.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 23rd at 9:30am at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Fr. Phillip Sladicka of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca officiating. Friends may call on Sunday evening, July 22nd from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at the Jermyn Cemetery located at 114 Cemetery St., Jermyn, PA. AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston will provide Military Honors.
