Gary L. Francis, 64, of West Scranton, was surrounded by his loving family when he went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 3, 2018. Born in Patuxent River, Maryland on August 13, 1953, he was the son of Marilyn A. Francis and the late Arthur L. Francis. He was a member of Jackson St. Baptist Church in West Scranton.
Gary was a 1972 graduate of West Scranton High School, and prior to his retirement, was employed by the City of Scranton. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing softball in several leagues, including Club Margaret, and faithfully followed the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. Gary loved life and was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Marilyn A. Francis, brother Kevin P. Francis, sister Michele L. Mattern and husband, Brett, nephew Aaron B. Mattern, niece Gretchen M. Mattern, all of Scranton, uncle, George H. Schuster Jr, and wife Kathy, Conklin, NY, companion, Nina Koslow, and life-long friend, Christopher Sledzinski, both of Scranton. He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur D. Francis, Sr.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael J. Turock and wife, Jane for their care and friendship.
Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
