Larry J. McHugh


Larry J. McHugh, 80, of Old Forge, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. He was born in Old Forge, February 27, 1938 and was the son of the late Bart and Betty (Gilotti) McHugh.

He attended Old Forge High School and then enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Korean War. Larry was self-employed and worked in the tile and marble industry. He was the owner of Keystone Tile and Marble. Larry was a member of the Old Forge Men’s Club and the Old Forge VFW Post 4954.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Bob McHugh and his sister, Carol Carey.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, the former Susan (Barrett) McHugh, his children; Lynda Alpha of Clarks Summit, Laurie Whipple and her husband Wayne of Avoca, Mara Matteucci and her husband Carl of CT, Melissa Shishlo of Pittston and TJ Shishlo of Old Forge; his sisters; Lorraine Atapovich of Old Forge, Marlene Marmo of FL and his brother Joseph McHugh and his wife Patti of FL. Also surviving are his nine grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews..

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 27th at 11am at The Taylor Primitive Methodist Church, 153 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor with Rev. Jim Whitman officiating. Friends may call from 10am until time of service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Taylor Primitive Methodist Church, 153 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor, PA 18507.
