Mary “Marlene” Hamilton


Mary “Marlene” Hamilton, 70, formerly of Duryea died on Friday, August 24th at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She was born in Duryea, July 4th, 1948 and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Zarnok) Cimakasky.

She was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was a graduate of Duryea High School and attended Penn State University. She retired as a manager from the Tupperware Corporation, Pittston. Mary was a member of the Association of the Blind. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence E. Hamilton, who died October 25th, 2013; her sister Patricia Jankoviak; brother Leo Cimakasky; and her grandson Kyle Walsh.

She is survived by her daughters, Antoinette Hamilton of Scranton, Laura Hamilton of FL, and Jeannine Walsh of GA. Also surviving are her brothers Felix Cimakasky of IL and Paul Cimakasky of Duryea, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 29th at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Queen of the Apostles Church, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday evening, August 28th from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Duryea.
