Michael J. Grobosky, 87, of Duryea, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Riverside Rehab and Nursing Center, Taylor. He was born in Duryea, September 22, 1931 and was the son of the late Michael and Sarah (Kalson) Grobosky.
Michael was a graduate of Duryea High School. After graduation, he enlisted in to the US Air Force and served during the Korean War. Michael was a graduate of the University of Scranton. He retired after 32 years from the US Treasury Department.
Michael was a very kind and loving person. He was a very generous donor to many organizations he felt strongly about. After his retirement, he volunteered his time to WVIA, Moses Taylor Hospital, and many other organizations. Michael led a full life, he traveled the world, and thoroughly documented his travels and enjoyed sharing his experiences.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Stanley.
Michael is survived by his siblings, Rose Marie Grobosky of Pittston, Tina McDonald of Pittston, Thomas Grobosky of Pittston, Edward and his wife Bernice of Ohio, and Agnes Lyback of Duryea. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday evening, October 10 at 7pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. Michael Shambora of the Moosic Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday evening, October 10 from 5pm until time of service. Interment will take place at a later date.
