Paul J. Coleman, Sr. of Duryea, formerly of Scranton, died on Saturday, October 6th at the Regional Hospital in Scranton. He was born on August 16, 1924 in Scranton. He was the son of Paul J. Coleman and Kathryn (McGraw) Coleman.
Paul was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in France and Germany as an Infantryman in Europe during World War II. He worked at Liquid Carbonic as a chemical operator in Harrison and Burlington, NJ. He retired from Liquid Carbonic in 1986. He also worked as a security guard at the Social Security Administration and at Little Flower Manor. He was an avid reader and was especially well-versed in the subject of history. He was lifetime member of the Duryea Veterans of Foreign War.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James and sisters, Helen Coyle and Ann Gerling. He is also predeceased by his first wife, Mary Valente Coleman, and his cousin Dorothy Hickey.
Paul is survived by his wife, Judith Ann Coleman. He is also survived by his 10 children, Pat Coleman and his wife Linda of Sterling, NJ, Mary Ann Munley and her husband Joseph of Lyndhurst, NJ, Nancy Caswell and her husband Warren of North Arlington, NJ, Eddie Coleman and his wife Susan of Egg Harbor, NJ, Anthony Coleman and his wife Cathy of Harrison, NJ, Paul Coleman and his wife Andrea of Flemington, NJ, Dave Johndrow and his wife Mariarose of Avoca, PA, Mark Johndrow and his wife Paula of Fort Worth, Texas, Jessica Henkels and her husband Mark of Greentown, PA, and Stephanie Smith and her husband Robert of Hughestown, PA. Paul is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Paul was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren and loved to talk about them and their accomplishments.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 10th at 11:30 AM at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc. located at 255 McAlpine St. in Duryea. The mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, Stephenson St, Duryea with Father John Polednak officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday morning, October 10th, from 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date. AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittstown will provide military honors.
