Mildred G. Ruda, 87, of Dupont, passed away on Saturday, October 20th at the Highland Manor Nursing Center, Exeter. She was born in Dupont, July 13th, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antonette (Wojeck) Ruda.
Mildred was member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont. She was a 1949 graduate of Dupont High School. She relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1951 and worked for the US Navy Department until 1954. In 1955, she worked for the National Advisory Committee of Aeronautics and then for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and retired from NASA in November of 1989. She then returned to PA after retirement. While in Washington, D.C., Mildred was an active member of the USO and traveled extensively. She was also a member of the PNA, Polish National Alliance Group 848 of Washington, D.C.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Ann Klimek and brothers Joseph, Walter, and Edward Ruda.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday morning, October 23rd from 8:30am until time of service. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
