John P. Levandowski


John P. Levandowski, 90, of Moosic, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Geisinger CMC Hospital, Scranton. He was born in Duryea, December 31, 1927 and was the son of the late Chester and Mary (Galuska) Levandowski.

John was a member of Queen of the Apostles parish church, Avoca. He attended Duryea schools. John joined the US Army in 1946 and served in Hawaii until 1947. He was a stationed with the medical corp. and also in maternity. John worked most of his life in the construction field and retired from Boiler Maker Union Local 13. He was a member of the Wilkes-Barre American Legion. John was an avid outdoorsmen that enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all he loved to be with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (Serafin) Levandowski, who died in September of 2008; his daughter Sharon Ann Levandowski, who died December of 1967; and his siblings Adam, Ann, Stella, Helen, Mary, Tess, Bertha, Chester and Joseph.

He is survived by his son, John A. Levandowski of Moosic and his grandson, John A. Jr Levandowski of Moosic. Also surviving are his siblings, Sophie Burke of Scranton, Edward Levandowski of Jenkins Twp. and Shirley Karuzie of Avoca as well as many nieces and nephews and his dog, Shiloh.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1st at 10:00am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:30am at Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca with Fr, Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Saturday morning, December 1st from 8:30am until time of service. Interment will be held at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca. AMVET Honor Guard of Greater Pittston will provide military honors.
