Joseph Ryzner, 67, of Duryea, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Twp. He was born in Duryea, March 24, 1951 and was the son of the late Edward and Jule (Bellas) Ryzner.
Joe was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, Duryea. He was a 1969 graduate of Pittston Area High School and attended Luzerne County Community College. Joseph worked several years for the Tamblyn Co., Moosic. He currently worked in partnership in Copitech Associates, Scranton, PA and was also a self-employed business owner in vehicle detailing for over 30 years.
Joe was a kind and generous man and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. He volunteered his time to the community, was an active member of the Duryea Lions Club, and worked tirelessly for the North Pole as a helper for Santa Claus himself. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Maryanne Wilbur Ryzner, his daughter Christina Yucas and her husband James, of Avoca and grandchildren Brody and Wyatt Yucas. Also surviving are his brother Duane Ryzner, of New Mexico and sisters; Patricia Kachinsky, of Avoca and Cathy Ryzner, of Avoca.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10:00am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea with Fr. John V. Polednak. Friends may call on Tuesday evening, January 22nd from 5-8pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Due to inclement weather family and friends are asked to go directly to the church for the mass. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Interment will be held at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.
