Lisa Giello Lopatka, 54, of Duryea, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at her home. She was born in Dunmore, December 7, 1964 and was the daughter of the Irene (Zarrick) Giello and the late Frank Giello.
Lisa was a graduate of Dunmore High School class of 1982. She obtained an associate’s degree in nursing from Luzerne County Community College and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Misericordia University. She worked as a registered nurse for Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, and most recently, with United Methodist Homes Wesley Village, Pittston.
Lisa had a beautiful soul that radiated through her immense love for her family and friends. Her caring personality was shown throughout her career in nursing, through her work ethic and inevitable compassion. Lisa was a dedicated Penn State fan and had a special place in her heart for all animals. Known for her strength and nurturing love, Lisa will forever be lovingly remembered by her adoring family and friends.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 18 years, John Lopatka, her children; Joseph John Lopatka, of Great Meadows, NJ and Chelsea Lynn Lopatka, of Pittston Twp. her brother William J. Giello and his wife Dawn, of Dunmore and sister Irene Wassell and her husband William of, New Iberia, LA. Also surviving are her nieces; Candice and Diedre Gallagher and Gabrielle Giello.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 5:30pm with Fr. Joseph Sica officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 3pm until time of service at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
