John G. Patrick


John G. Patrick, 86, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. He was born in Dupont February 1st 1932 and was the son of the late George and Mildred Melnick Patrick.

John was a life-long member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont and was a graduate of Dupont High School. After high school, John joined the US Army and served during the Korean War. When he returned, he worked for his family lumber business. John then attended a local trade school and under the GI Bill he was certified as a machinist. He worked for the Stegmaier Brewery, Owens-Illinois, and he retired as a machinist from McKinney, Inc. in 1999. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Patrick Pacovsky, and his siblings Edward, Joseph, Celia, Matilda, and Evelyn.

John is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Norma (Kosnoski) Patrick, his daughter Lynn and her husband Thomas McDermott of Dupont and son Barry Patrick of Dupont, grandchildren Amy and her husband Sean Burke, Janice McDermott, Shaun McDermott, and David Pacovsky and his great grandson Jeremy Jacek. Also surviving is his sister Mildred “Mitzie” Patrick, of Wilkes-Barre and several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Friends may call on Friday evening, January 25th from 5-7pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church for the mass. There will be no procession from the funeral home Interment will be held at the parish Cemetery, Dupont.
