Joseph E. Pucilowski


Joseph E. Pucilowski, 89, of Avoca, passed away on Thursday, January 24th at The Gardens at East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Duryea on July 11, 1929 and was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Masierowski Pucilowski.

Joseph was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Dupont. He attended Duryea High School and obtained his G.E.D. in the state of Florida after his service with the United States Air force. Joe served during the Korean War, having earned two bronze stars. Joe was very proud of his service with United States Air Force. He retired as a machinist for Capital Records, Scranton. He was a member of the International Associations of Machinists Local 847 and also a member of the Dupont VFW post 4909.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Florence Drouse Pucilowski, who died November 15, 2013, his sister Margaret Pucilowski and his brother Charles Pucilowski.

Joseph is survived by his sister-in-laws, Bernadine Matechak, Hedy Matechak and Rita Drouse. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon, January 27th from 2-5pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church for the mass. There will be no procession from the funeral home Interment will be held at the parish Cemetery, Dupont.

AMVETS Honor Guard will provide military honors for Joseph on Sunday evening, January 27 at 4:45pm at the funeral home.
