Elaine Jones Schuh, 78, of Avoca, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Allied Hospice Center, Scranton. She was born in Avoca, November 19, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Charles William and Helen “Nancy” (Reilly) Jones.
Elaine was a 1957 graduate of Avoca High School and of the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing, where she was employed as an RN for many years. Elaine also worked as a private duty nurse for several years. She retired as a company nurse for Schott Optical and after retirement worked part-time for the Penguin Publishing Company.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John Schuh; her children, Lynda Alpha of Clarks-Summit, Laurie and her husband, Wayne Whipple of Avoca, Mara and her husband, Carl Matteucci of CT, and her son John Schuh and his wife Kelly Ann Daley of Pittston. Also surviving are her stepbrother Joe and his wife Lisa Rutledge of Old Forge and stepsister Kathy and her husband Jim Reuther of Dunmore, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 11:00am at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Friends may call for visitation on Tuesday evening, September 3rd from 5-8pm.
