Cecelia Novak Bartosiewicz


Cecelia Novak Bartosiewicz, 99, formerly of Avoca, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Scranton Health Care Center. She was born in Buffalo, NY on April 21, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia (Babula) Novak.

Cecelia was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont. She was a graduate of Avoca High School. After high school, she married and moved to Newark, NJ. Throughout her life, Cecelia worked as a caregiver for a prominent family and had the opportunity to travel the world. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Bartosiewicz, who died in 1977; her daughters, Barbara Brady and Susan Accunzo; son-in-law Tony Fichner; and many brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children, Ted and his wife Jane Bartosiewicz of Grand Prairie, TX., Dottie Fichner of Barnegat, NJ., Edward Bartosiewicz of Riegelsville, PA., Alan Bartosiewicz and his companion Carol of Bellville, NJ., and Mark Bartosiewicz and his wife Debbie Andreottola of Palmer, PA. Also surviving is her brother, Henry Novak of Claremont, FL., her sister, Helen Piechota of Dupont; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Friends may call on Thursday evening, January 2, 2020 from 4-7pm. Interment will be privately held at the Durham Cemetery, Riegelsville, PA.
