Albert G. Wescott, 84, of Dupont, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2023, at Hospice of The Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was born in Moosic, September 13, 1938, and was the son of the late Giddon and Dorothea (Haines) Westcott.
Albert was a member of Holy Mothers of Sorrows Polish National Catholic Church, Dupont. He was a 1956 graduate of Moosic High School. He worked many years for the A&P Warehouse, Scranton and retired after 31 years of employment as a warehouse supervisor for Central Warehouse, Scranton. Albert was a member of the Moosic Lyons Club with 42 years of service to the community of Moosic; he was also a member of the Moosic Sportsman’s Club.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, George, Elmer, Gilbert, and Ronald Wescott and his sisters, Anna, Alberta, Freda, and Evelyn.
Albert is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ellen Wiancek Wescott; his daughter, Marianne Pherreigo, of Old Forge; his sons, Joseph Capone and his wife Anissa, Kenneth Capone, and John Capone, all of Dupont. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Capone, Stephanie and Marisa Pherreigo; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dupont Lions Club in care of the Christmas Lighting Project, 401 Main St., Dupont, PA 18641.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00am at Holy Mother of Sorrows Polish National Catholic Church, 212 Wyoming Ave., Dupont with Fr. Carmen Bollock officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Saturday morning from 9:30am-10:30am at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
