Ann M. (O’Brien) Soy, 76, of Avoca, passed away on Wednesday December 15, 2021, at the Regional Medical Center, Scranton. She was born in Avoca, June 19, 1945, and was the daughter of the late James O’Brien and Theresa (McDermott) O’Brien Walsh.
Ann was a devoted member of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was a 1963 graduate of Avoca High School. Ann retired after 25 years of employment from Rehoski’s Market, Duryea. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ann is survived by her husband of 58 years, John A. Soy, her children; Jane Ann Yankelitis and her husband Stan, of Phoenixville, PA., Patty Warner and her husband Greg, of Lewisberry, PA., John Soy and his wife Linda, of Avoca and James Soy and his wife Jennifer, of Moosic. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jill and Ben Yankelitis, Joseph, Tyler and Nick Hugo, Matthew Soy, and Bridget and Luke Soy.
A mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, December 21, at 10:30am at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call for visitation at the church from 9:30am until time of mass. Interment will be held St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca.
